Unithotics™

Unithotics™ are ideal for use when a rigid orthotic such as a Graphite® is intolerable to the patient, but where some functional control is desired to help prevent or stabilize foot deformities. To accomplish this, a lightweight and semiflexible thermoplastic plate is used, which varies in flexibility according to the patient’s needs.

Construction – The extrinsic posting is fabricated from a material that is very resilient and semicompressible for the maximum amount of shock absorption and functional control. The post is protected by a crack-resistant plastic wear plate that gives the heel post added durability.

Intrinsic heel posting (as shown to the right) is also available, to reduce heel thickness. All Unithotics™ come standard with a brown simulated leather naugahyde top that is both durable and mildew resistant for carefree use. Leather tops are used in cases where pockets are needed for metatarsal head lesions.

Other top covers such as Spenco, foam, and cushion vinyl tops are available upon request.

Corlyte™ in 1/8" thickness is incorporated under all extensions to the sulcus or end of toes. Corlyte™ is excellent for its shock absorption qualities and as a fat pad replacement. It will not bottom out even after years of use, and it will retain its resilience. It can also be used as a filler material in the longitudinal arch to add shock absorption and support.

Intrinsic forefoot posting is preferable whenever applicable and comes standard on all types of Unithotics™. Extrinsic forefoot postings are also available if required.
