Bio/Balance™ Sports Orthotics

Bio/Balance™ sports orthotics are not all constructed from the same materials. The materials used will vary according to the clinical information and the sport involved. The lightweight thermoplastic shell used is semiflexible to rigid. This plate will not crack or break even under heavy use. The heel post is made from high-density EVA and SBR materials. The post is protected by a crack-resistant plastic wear plate for durability. A blue simulated leather top cover that comes standard on all Bio/Balance™ sports orthotics is both durable and mildew resistant. 1/16” Corlyte™ is used under all simulated leather extensions to the sulcus, or full length to the end of the toes. Corlyte™ is a special material we have developed that is ideal for sports because of its excellent shock absorption ability. It also has a very high resistance to compression set. It will not flatten out but will retain its resilience even with the demand of repeated sport usage.

Balance Running Series

This is the first functional plastic orthotic that your patients can comfortably wear for running at the very first step. It has a deep heel seat and a medial flange that are constructed for cushion and control. It fits in spikes as easily as it does in high-performance running shoes.

For the serious high school, college, or professional player, we have developed a wide variety of basketball orthotics. With over 60 years of experience in treating professional basketball players, we are sure we can find just the right one.

Soccer Orthotic

The Soccer Orthotic is durable and fits easily in soccer shoes. It features a deep heel seat with a flexible medial flange for cushion and control.

Other Features and Sports

Corlyte™ fill-in is used in the longitudinal arch in certain sports, such as basketball, to allow a greater flexibility of the plate, while still retaining its shape. Forefoot balance wedging may be incorporated as required by the degree of forefoot imbalance and type of sports activity.

Skating and sprinting orthotics with black/white tops and a thin plastic shell give control without sacrificing the room needed in both skating boots and track shoes. Spenco, leather, and other materials for tops are also available upon request. New red, blue, black/white, and blue/black foam tops reduce slippage of feet on orthotics. They are also used as a bottom cover for cushion and can be sanded easily for adjustment. A special black tread bottom material can additionally be applied for extra durability.
